- Hey little lady tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Shea Stubbs and I am a senior at Emory University where I expect to obtain my Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Chemistry in May 2016. At various points in my four-year journey at Emory, I have functioned as an undergraduate researcher, resident assistant
and an active member of the university’s praise team, African-Caribbean student union, and international student advisory board, while maintaining a GPA that called for my induction into the Alpha Epsilon Upsilon Honor Society. Upon graduating, I aspire to be a cosmetic chemist. On August 31st 2015, I launched a lip-gloss and lipstick line labeled “Shades by Shea”. The unique online lip boutique is inspired by the beauty of The Bahamas. As a chemistry major, it is my priority to deliver safe and healthy products that are guaranteed to turn heads. It is also my desire to have the company serve as a symbol for a philosophy that I’ve been taught since I was a little girl: regardless of where you’re from or where you start, all things are possible.
- If you could describe a lady in three words what would they be?
A lady possesses a strong work ethic, is well informed, and appropriate - but never passive.
- Why do you consider yourself to be a lady?
I consider myself a lady/woman in process. I do believe that I possess the characteristics above, but there is always room for improvement. This in itself - the ability to appreciate where I’ve come from, where I am today, and where I aspire to be - is ladylike.
- State one reason why you think being a lady is important.
We are females by birth and become women as we get older. Being a lady however, is the part of our person that we choose. This unique power to determine the way we express our femininity, grace, and strength is very important to the development of our identities. When we find and learn to be and love the lady within us, the possibilities are endless.
- One thing you would like to say to all the little ladies out there?
It is important for all little ladies to remember that there is no right or wrong way to do life. Our purposes were set in stone long before we graced the earth. Regardless of what is going on around you, be confident that He, who began a good work in you, SHALL see it through to completion (Phil 1:6). Everything about you, even the things that you don’t quite understand, will eventually come together to fulfill the plans of your life. So, breathe. The fight is fixed, and you will come out on top!
There goes another little lady in the light for not only her accomplishments but for epitomizing lady-like characteristics.
