- Hey Little Lady, tell us about yourself.
Hey my name is Rachel Scott.I'm a producer for ABC News Digital in New York where I shoot, report and produce for ABC Live, the network’s 24-hour digital livestream. A Los Angeles native, I've reported from Hollywood’s biggest award shows and movie premieres including the Academy Awards,
the Video Music Awards and the MTV Movie Awards. I've interviewed stars like Kerry Washington, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Spike Lee, Lilly Tomlin and Wesley Snipes.
I was also one of the youngest reporters at the Democratic and Republican debates. I'm also the creator of ‘Hello GEMS’, a women empowerment newsletter. At 19 years old, I interned at the White House in the Office of Communications and have since been invited back to attend events like the White House Instameet. Recently, I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California and I'm a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.
- If you could describe a lady in three words what would they be?
If I could describe a lady in three words it would be strong, resilient, unbreakable.
- Why do you consider yourself to be a lady?
One of my favorite quotes is by Maya Angelou. She says, “My mission in life is to not merely to survive but to thrive; and to do with some passion, some compassion, some humor and some style.” I believe a lady truly embodies those characteristics and I work every day to exemplify those values.
- State one reason why you think being a lady is important.
A lady carries a level of class, intelligence and a sense of gratitude. My mother has always taught me that it’s important to keep your head and your standards high and a lady does just that. She has a certain grace about herself that helps her achieve both her personal and career goals. Most importantly, she is genuine and focused on lifting others up as she climbs.
- One thing you would like to say to all the little ladies out there?
I would love to tell young women out there to remember the power that they have. There’s nothing stopping you from achieving your dreams and reaching your goals. Stay focused on beating your personal best every day and becoming the best version of yourself. As always, stay classy, stay genuine and stay humble.
There she is ladies! Our Little Lady for the entire month of June encouraging through this journey called womanhood.
